Biography

My parents immigrated from Asia and turned to food to build something of their own in America. They began their journey in the early 1980s as pioneers of Thai Food in NYC, opening their first restaurant in Chinatown. My parents immigrated from Asia and turned to food to build something of their own in America. They began their journey in the early 1980s as pioneers of Thai Food in NYC, opening their first restaurant in Chinatown. Since then, they’ve opened dozens of Thai restaurants across Manhattan and, in recent years, Downtown Brooklyn.

Over the years, I supported our family businesses by designing the space and working in the restaurant from time to time. Although I am not a classically trained chef, I grew up eating amazing home-cooked meals and was fortunate enough to be exposed to excellent and diverse cuisines.

These experiences led me to consider ways for the best of my mom’s recipes to reach a broader audience. Me and my sister’s conceptualized Baby’s Buns & Buckets in 2022 fusing the comfort of Thai Street food with the indulgence of American fast casual.
