I, Jase Franklyn, hail from the twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. I learnt to barbecue from my mother in Tobago at annual extended family Christmas and New Year gatherings.
In 2003, I moved to the USA to pursue a Computer Information System degree. On weekends and special occasions, I would always be “on the grill.” In 2018, I formed Jase’s BBQ LLC where I participated in summer events. In 2019, I won Best Food Overall with my Jerk Pork and Signature BBQ Pigtails at Bacon and Beer Classic NYC. In 2020, I won the Hidden Gem Award for my BBQ Pigtails at Pig Island NYC. In 2021, I won Best Rib Dinner at Rib King NYC.
Popular dishes of Jase’s BBQ include BBQ Pigtails, Jerk BBQ Chicken, Fried Jerk Chicken, Jerk Pork, Brisket, Ribs, Rib Tips, Garlic Shrimp, Mac n Cheese, Cornbread, Corn on Cob and Cole Slaw. Customers affectionately describe my food as “Smoked and Seasoned to Perfection”, which synchronically is also my mission statement. Jase’s BBQ currently caters to private and public events such as birthday/graduation parties, baby showers, weddings, company/school/sporting events, holiday celebrations, pop-ups at breweries and even weekend family meals.
